Four exits with different purposes
| Intent | Choice |
|---|---|
| Finish an ordinary conversation | Say a brief ending if you want, then use Stop/hang-up |
| Continue to another match | Use Next when available |
| Protect yourself now | Leave immediately; etiquette is optional |
| Reduce future contact or notify the service | Use verified report/block paths where applicable |
Reporting and blocking are not interchangeable, and this page does not promise a report outcome or response time. Use the dedicated report and block explanations after their locations are verified.
Before, during, and after
Before a connection, cancel or leave using the visible current state. During a conversation, use the applicable Stop or hang-up control. After ending, decide whether you want another conversation, a pause, support, or a safety follow-up. Recharge remains in the product-owned flow if it appears.
Ordinary endings can be short
“Thanks for talking. I am going to go now.” “I am ready to move on. Take care.” “I need to end the call now.”
An explanation is optional. For more variations, use End a Conversation Politely.
Safety overrides the script
Do not stay to be polite when there is pressure, harassment, threats, explicit content, or coercion. Leave, then use the relevant safety tool if it is available. Preserve only what the official reporting path requests; do not repost private or intimate material publicly. See Leave an Uncomfortable Chat.
After a normal ending
When you are ready for another conversation, return through the existing product journey.
If the expected control is unavailable
Do not invent an internal timer or repeatedly tap the screen. Read the current state, allow a moment for a visible transition, and use help if the interface is unresponsive. Next can be state-gated; Stop or hang-up belongs to applicable states. Final prelaunch QA must confirm keyboard, touch, short-screen, and orientation access so the content never promises a covered or absent control.
Confirm the conversation has actually ended
Look for the product's completed or post-call state before assuming camera and microphone use has stopped. Browser and operating-system indicators can provide context. If media appears active unexpectedly, close the relevant product state and follow official platform privacy guidance.
