Match the choice to the situation
- No shared topic: offer one topic change, then move on if neither person engages.
- Repeated silence: use a reset question or end without blaming either person.
- Boundary mismatch: state the boundary once if safe, then leave if it is not respected.
- Disrespect or pressure: you do not owe another attempt.
- Immediate safety concern: leave without a farewell; follow reporting or blocking guidance where applicable.
Polite transition or immediate exit?
For an ordinary poor fit, “Thanks for talking; I am going to move on” is enough. For harassment, threats, explicit content, coercion, or another safety concern, do not stay to explain. Leave an uncomfortable chat puts immediate action first.
Next is not Stop
Next expresses an intention to continue matching beyond the current conversation when the control is available. Stop ends the current conversation or journey in the applicable state. Exact placement and availability depend on the mother product's current session state. See End a Video Chat for the four exit choices.
Reset before another conversation
Take a breath, check that no private detail has entered the frame, and choose a fresh opening. Moving quickly from one difficult exchange to another can carry frustration forward. A brief reset is not a requirement; it is a way to make your next choice deliberate.

Do not use Next as a message
Next is a product choice, not a punishment or a way to make the other person chase an explanation. You do not need to announce it dramatically, and you should not threaten to use it to pressure someone into answering. For an ordinary mismatch, one clear closing line is optional. For repeated pressure or unsafe behavior, leave without performing a lesson. If you intend to end matching rather than meet someone else, use the applicable Stop path instead of assuming Next will end the journey.
